The dominant way of making a living in a culture. Obtaining food available in nature through gathering, hunting, fishing or scavenging. Method shared with our non-human primate relatives. Foraging areas threatened by the resource curse. People in rich countries/core areas, want the resources (minerals, gold, oil, etc. ) found in the marginal areas and as a result there is a conversion of foraging land to mining, plantations, or tourist destinations. In turn leads to the displacement of foragers from their homeland. Depending on context, food source consists of. Nuts, berries, and other fruits, surface growing vegetables such as melons, roots, honey, insects and eggs. Trap and hunt a variety of birds, fish and animals. For removing roots from the ground, penetrating holes dug by animals to get the animals out. Bows and arrows, spears, nets, and knives. Processing raw materials into edible food, through mashing, grinding and pounding. Meat dried in the sun or over the fire.
