West religion (e. g. augustine, avicenna, maimonides, aquinas) Western philosophy (e. g. descartes, locke, hume kant) The natural sciences (e. g. galen, newton, galvani, helmholtz, fechner, Western intellectual history starts with the greeks around 600bc.
