Ebbinghaus took history to be the start of academic psychology with welhel. This involved courses, degrees, university departments, textbooks, jobs, journals, etc. The past of psychology goes back to the start of western intellectual history and the greek philosophers: Thales, alcmaeon, hippocrates, pythagoras, protagoras, socrates, and especially plato and aristotle. West religion (e. g. augustine, avicenna, maimonides, aquinas) Western philosophy (e. g. descartes, locke, hume kant) The natural sciences (e. g. galen, newton, galvani, helmholtz, fechner, Western intellectual history starts with the greeks around 600bc.
