Document Summary

Thinking part of our brain is just a flat sheet of cells, and as the brain gets bigger than the sheet. As brains become bigger they wrinkle/crinkle to fit inside of the head. Cervix cortex is the sheet that is being referred to above. Brains vary in size and such based off the animal. Plants and fungus don"t have a nervous system. Original purpose of the nervous system was for movement, a fast way that is not random movement. Purposeful movements by responding to things/ stimuli in the environment. Somatic: nerves that control the muscles that you have willful control over. Autonomic: things that you can not willfully control, you might influence it but it happens out of your control, ex- breathing, blinking, heart beating, etc. Motor: things going out in reaction to it. Parts: cell body, dendrites, and axon (sending signals to other neurons) Synapse is where any drug taken that acts on the nervous system acts right there.
