L27 aquatic ecology: ecology- the scientific study of the interactions b/w organisms & the environment. Climate- the long term prevailing weather conditions. Four major abiotic components of climate are temperature, precipitation, sunlight, & wind. Macroclimate- consists of patterns on the global, regional, & landscape level. Microclimate- consists of very fine patterns, such as those encountered by the community of organisms underneath a fallen log: ex. Moss grows more on the north side because of cool, moist climate: macroclimate: global climate patterns, global climate patterns are determined largely by solar energy & Influenced by features within the local environment: determined by fine-scale differences in the environment that, global climate change affect light & wind patterns, large-scale changes in the earth"s climate. Increased co2 and other greenhouse gasses- fossil fuels, carbon cycle. & precipitation, but also the pattern of temp. & precipitation: general features of terrestrial biomes, terrestrial biomes are often named for major physical/ climate factors.
