Andromache: wife of hector and mother of scamandrius. Lost her birth family to achilles and fears for hector. Tries to persuade him to not fight achilles. Aret : honor won by achieving feats of great skill or bravery. All warriors/soldiers are striving to gain arete during the trojan war; particularly achilles and hector. Supplication: cry, or prayer, of need to one"s god in a time of great desperation. Wrestling contest of iliad 23: between odysseus and ajax during the funeral games. Astyanax: infant son of the trojan hero hector and andromache. Thetis: a sea goddess, one of the nereids. Mycenaean palace: they represent the first advanced civilization in mainland greece, with its palatial states, urban organization, works of art and writing system. There is no satisfactory explanation for the collapse of the mycenaean palaces. The mycenaean period became the historical setting of much ancient greek literature and mythology, including the iliad.
