Jackson"s fictional film is the story of a young man who turns to violence when his mother is killed in a drive-by shooting. Winstead"s book purports to be autobiographical and tells the story of a young man whose beloved father was a bishop in the church. Jackson"s protagonist never spends any time in prison, whereas winstead"s protagonist devotes a considerable part of his story to his incarcerations. In addition, winstead"s book and jackson"s works are different with respect to character, plot, mood, and sequence of events. Words and short phrases do not enjoy copyright protection.
