They have to do with how you develop the view of yourself in relation to the feedback you get from your environment. Everyone works their way through questions before you move on to next stages: you develop diff from others as you do this. Erikson"s stages: (no research to support, its speculative: trust v mistrust: from birth you have issue and you resolve till 18mos. (before kids speak) Good view of world when positive thing happens and you trust the world. Bad view: sometimes good things happen sometimes they don"t and you learn to. Kids try to do things for self and it depends on reaction from environment. Bad reaction: environment does everything for you. I can"t do for myself: shame/doubt: initiative v guilt (3. 5 - 6yo)
