Masters and johnson described human sexual response cycle in terms of a sequence of overlapping phases: Sexual dysfunctions can involve disruption of any stage of the sexual response cycle. Sex drive physical and/or psychological craving for sexual activity and pleasure. Men engage in more frequent sexual activity and tend to think about sex more often than women. Women equate sexual desire with a need for emotional intimacy, have a higher capacity for sex. Dsm-5 divides sexual dysfunctions into several types. 1) symptoms have to persist for at least 6 months. 2) there must be demonstration that the problem leads to marked distress or interpersonal difficulties. Lack of interest in sex must be persistent and pervasive.
