Axis- the imaginary line that extends from the n. pole to the s. pole through the center of the earth. Earth orbits the sun in 365 days every fourth year is a leap year. Orbital can be described as an elliptical trajectory. Plane of the ecliptic- geometric plane formed by the sun and earth"s orbital path. Perihelion- point in the earth"s orbit, which occurs every january 3rd, where the distance to the sun is minimized. Aphelion- point in the earth"s orbit, which occurs every july 4th, where the distance to the sun is maximized.
