Children are very good at imitating new words (learn new words at 2 words/hr) States that children create their own grammar based on what they hear. Evident in two-word stage children are using grammar rules to create new combinations. Children make generalizations and form rules that are different from the adult rules (ex. over-regularization of comparative -er suffix) Nobody likes me vs nobody don"t like me . Adults usually respond to the children"s meaning, not their grammar.
