Document Summary

Chapter 8: continuation of conduct disorder notes (10/24) ***onset is important because there are different prognoses depending whether you have a child onset or an adolescent onset. Childhood onset conduct disorder: group that has adverse outcomes associated with it; life-course persistent group. Display at least one symptom before age 10. Account for a disproportionate amount of illegal activity. Remember age of onset does make a difference! As likely to be girls as boys. Do not show the severity shown in childhood onset, or the psychopathology in the childhood onset. Less likely to commit violent offenses or persist as they get older. Also called (cid:361)adolescent limited(cid:362) because it is limited to the adolescent period! Meaning less likely to persist as the kid gets older. Life-course persistent (lcp): begins at an early age and persists into adulthood; negative life outcomes. Adolescent-limited (al): begins around puberty and ends in young adulthood; more common and less serious than lcp.
