Islamism today has at least 5 aspects: public, establishment, states, legitimate islamism, fundamentalism. Islam revealed in beginning of the 7th century. Mecca was center of idols, preached monotheism, smashed idols (360 idols total, one for each tribe) 610-622 period in which there was no coercion, just invitation revelations were distinct from verses to come. Al-quran has 114 chapters: 90=1/3 meccan period, apolitical, 24=2/3 including politics, war, fighting, and regulations (legal system) inconsistencies between two parts noticed by god/the prophet, 3 verses claim it is up to. God to update instructions in place of older verses. Quran in many verses attributed miracles to past prophets: total of 124,000 messengers of god and he was to be the last. Relatives asked him to perform miracles but he claimed quran is his miracle so he is not required. Had some followers in mecca but many turned their back when the religion did not take.
