Geared toward spiritual evolution: when we die, we go into spirit world and recount past. Mixture of christian moral code, with reincarnation and belief in contact with the spirits of the dead. Imported to brazil at turn of the century. Goal: lose connection to/desire for material gains. Christ = one of most elevated spirits. Individual brazilians will turn to several different sources of relief/answers. Dr. fritz : spirit of german doctor who died in 1917. Video: 40 patients were treated for a total of 60 separate illnesses. Not an elevated spirit -- doing penance for evil deeds during last reincarnation. Emotions: roughly half said were calm, relaxed, fine, confident. Other half were nervous, tense, frightened, anxious.
