Whatever the system employed, the staff & facilities for surgery, anaesthesia & recovery should be of same standard as for inpatients & complete facilities for resuscitation should be provided. Standing arrangements should exist for admitting a day care surgery patient immediately to a standard hospital bed if he/she is not fit to be discharged same day.
