Scientific studies: last week tonight w/ john oliver. Answer the question about why we need research methods and why we need to understand science/research. Studies are all over tv and social media. There are now so many studies being thrown around that they sometimes seem to contradict each other. There is a lot of bs currently parading around as science. Some scientists feel pressure to publish idea, and it helps to have new and interesting views. Collecting lots of variables and playing with data until you find something that seems significant statistically. Even the best designed studies can get bad results.
