By the 1840"s it became apparent in texas that slavery was extremely important. This is apparent by looking at trend lines: More demand for products such as cotton. By watching trend lines, one can better understand and ignore the common misconceptions that are passed on incorrectly. Look to primary sources to know what really happened, historians look to actual evidence and present arguments. See the past what is behind our eyes, not before our eyes . Must be rigorous to ask the appropriate questions. Texans did not realize the civil war or secession was coming. Texans were concerned with economic and political life in the present. People were more concerned with making money in the cotton business and the rising prices of land.
