Document Summary

Absolute truth: inherently true, does not depend on us believing. Existentialism: philosophical tradition beginning with questions concerning acting, feeling, living as an individual (free, authentic agent) Camus is concerned about absurdism + suicide > freedom: absurdity & suicide (p3-10) Hope is an error (re: christianity) > fatal evasion . Eluding is the invariable game (p8) > eluding that life doesn"t have meaning. You start to live when you accept that life has no meaning. Our reaction to death is the most authentic thing about us . What can you find in life that will make you feel fulfilled . When we start accepting the inevitability of death, we truly start living. Intensity to keep living (suicide; for camus, suicide is not the answer) Subject of essay is on the absurd and suicide. Christianity > fatal evasion > eluding our own death/false hope. Rejection of moral & religious principles + no meaning of life (like epicureanism without the moral principles)
