Nazi aggression spread beyond poland, chamberlain resigned and was replaced by churchill. Churchill may 10 1940: he would wage a war on all fronts to defeat germany. Hitler moves against luxembourg which falls almost immediately. Leopold iii of belgium surrenders immediately, angering france and britain. French try to prepare the borders for the german attack; they relied on the maginot line of fortifications that would make the invasion of france impossible. The maginot line was quickly smashed by the germans. Miscalculate where the nazi invasion will come from; they believe it will be through belgium, hitlers invasion comes from multiple fronts and they are unprepared. The british forces were in france quickly, but got quickly overwhelmed. By late may the allied army are backed up to dunkirk. Hitler was surprised by how fast this process was. 29 may 1940; hitler has overextended his supply lines, holding out for agreement with the british.
