40 views3 pages

Document Summary

Your own understanding of the data (skews? outliers?) Data displays should be clear and easily understood. Include all relevant data - that"s it, nothing else. Make clear what"s important about the data. Do not present data in a misleading fashion. Include a title, labeled axes, legend, error bars (indicate uncertainty around the observed values) Can be used for multiple group comparisons - two conditions within an experiment. Can arrange data by alphabetical order, pareto bar chart (easy comparison - ordered by descending/ascending value) Chartjunk - anything that is distracting and you don"t need. If you need a line to connect a bar value to the axis, the chart may be too big and/or complicated. Using both horizontal and vertical guide lines can create moir vibrations. Optical illusion giving the impression of movement. Chart scale should be selected to show differences in the data. Y-axis should start at 0, otherwise the chart can be misleading.
