Land value is so high that in order to make payments on land it was more efficient to build the ridiculously expensive building, via fast-track construction. Expensiveness: not physical materials so much as place and process, expensive for ships to dock at busy port like that of hong kong. Glass enclosure within structure, which has to penetrate glass fa ade. Few columns, clustered together in groups of 4 masts , rising up through building to support hanging trusses ( k trusses ) Trusses above floors, six or seven floors hang from each truss. Big open gathering spaces with high ceilings around trusses. Raised off ground, masts act like pilotis allowing for walking space under completely raised building. Tower cranes permanently installed on top of building could keep building up or taking down concept of flexibility and changeability over time (if needed) Aesthetic of building in constant state of construction.
