Takes the process one step further by using direct observation to formally assess an individual"s feelings, thoughts, and behavior in specific situations or contexts. Target behaviors are identified and observed to see what factors influence. Relies on clinician"s observation and interpretation of events. Can be done using checklists and behavioral rating scales. The phenomenon that occurs when individuals alter their performance or behavior due to the awareness that they"re being observed. Include specific tools to determine cognitive, emotional, or behavioral responses that might be associated with a specific disorder and more general tools. Several assessment measures that help address the problem of people not being aware of thoughts and feelings. Ambiguous stimuli are presented to people who are then asked to describe what they see. People project their subconscious thoughts and fears on other people. Inkblot presented to patient who is requested to explain what he/she sees.
