Continuum of sadness and depression (table in book) (5) People with depression are often sad and isolated from others. Experience of a major depressive episodes that is different from previous functioning there has never been a manic or hypomanic episode. Needs to have either depressed mood or loss of interest or pleasure. Not better explained by a psychotic disorder. Normally come with specifiers try to use dimensional and categorical approach. Chronic feeling of depression lasting for at least 2 years. May not have severe symptoms of depression but instead have low-grade symptoms. There has never been a manic or hypomanic episode. Recurrent temper outbursts that are out of proportion with the given situation. It was in the needs to be researched more in the dsm-4 and got officiated because a lot of people had it. Period lasting at least 1 week during which a person feels highly euphoric or irritable.
