Document Summary

Machiavelli reading: wrote a piece called the prince which explored many ideas that applies to many fields, raises the question of is it better to be feared or loved, feared wanting freedom. If you choose freedom, you can"t enjoy it without security: creates a conflict of the beliefs. If you choose security, the government can"t serve its purpose if you aren"t free: one can"t exist without the other in an ideal world. What individual freedoms that you won"t give up: many people believe that they will not give up the right to leave or change their government. If the government is oppressing them or not valuing what they want, then they should have the choice to leave: some believe that no freedoms are reserved to the governments control. The morality that makes an individual good would make them a bad leader, while the morality of a leader might make that individual a bad person.
