Traits selected with potential for reproductive success: Female chooses males with fancy tails songs get fancy. Handicap hypothesis: she is choosing those which have survived even in spite of possible disadvantages. Beauty hypothesis: she is choosing simply because she thinks the male is beautiful. Differences exist between the appearance of the sexes. A form of natural selection that favours traits that increase survival or reproduction of an individual"s skin at the expense of an individual.
