Non-experimental research methods: naturalisic observaion, systemaic observaion. Naturalisic observaion (aka ield work ): observing and describing naturally occurring phenomena with litle experimenter intervenion. The person who does the observing disappears: focus very widely on what is going on. This tends to be global (broad) in scope: has two main funcions: Things that are going to tell you the phenomena. Primiive way of understanding the world: example: Conservaionist walked across the african jungle from september 1999 through. He walks through the republic of congo, cameroon, and gabon (had guides along the way). He had to walk through thick forests, swamps, and rivers that have never been open to human contact before. He also experienced a few human setlements along the way. Goal: to record what is there and to inspire conservaion. He encountered and recorded a whole host of things . Plant life, animal life (behavior, excrement), he learned what the animals ate by focusing on animal excrement.
