Document Summary

End usually have 46 chromosomes (1/2 from each parent). Some genes control the expression of other genes. Regulator genes: influence how & when other genes are turned on so that their proteins are produced. Some are short-term - respond to the environment. Some (e. g. , blood type) are expressed in the same way regardless of the environment. Passive g-e correlation: since parents share genetic info with their children, they often provide an environment that matches the child"s genotype. Evocative g-e correlation: children"s genotype draw responses from others. e. g. , parents who enjoy reading are likely to provide a reading environment for the child. A child who actively engages with other people by laughing, looking at them, & actively pleasant will get positive response from others. A child with a predisposition to acting in a pleasant way will be reinforced by others to act in this manner. Active g-e correlation: child seeks out environment that is compatible with their genotype.
