Fortunately, the bombs were successfully finished and ordered by u. s president harry truman to be dropped on hiroshima and nagasaki because of the japanese opposition to the united nations. Fat man, were made by similar methods but only little boy was made using the process of diffusion. For this bomb, oppenheimer knew he needed enriched gaseous uranium. The problem however, is that uranium itself is not a gas. As a result, he found himself using uranium hexafluoride, which is also not a gas, but can be easily vaporized. To obtain pure uranium from his gaseous compound, he passed it through several porous barriers.
