Document Summary
Court order issues by a judge to try to make government explain why they are holding. Judge will force government to do something with the person. Possible for government to stop the issuing of writs in an emergency. Possible for americans to complain about government and ask for changes without. Must be two witnesses who observe the same action. Writ of habeas corpus last ditch effort to escape incarceration the person legitimately. Us was born from people wanting to break ties with their government and fight against it. Difference between complaining to government and actually committing treason being accused of treason. Have to be actively working with an enemy of the united states. Makes it difficult to convict someone of treason. Amendments- adding something or changing something that"s already there. Wanted to possible to peacefully change the system, but didnt want fads. Wanted it to be a slow thoughtful process and different levels of people participating to change the document.
