Gender stratification: groups divided based on sex. Sex: biological differences b/w males and females. Sexuality: sexual preference/identity, it is relative (in prison people willing to bone same gender = sexuality is relative) Gender & gender roles: set of social arrangements built around being male or female, behavioral norms assumed to accompany one"s status as male or female. Males usually breadwinners and females take care of the household. Gender socialization: process by which individuals of a given society internalize the values, beliefs, and norms built around sex categories and learn to function as male and female members of that society. Gender inequality: advantages/disadvantages in pursuit of personal success. Prejudice and discrimination: thoughts and feelings about people"s sex and gender, usually negative, discrimination about going further than just thoughts, like negative acts, prejudice usually leads to discrimination. 5: education, religion, politics, military and the workplace, sexual harassment. Sexual barter = perform sexual favors under threat of punishment.
