Document Summary
Specific way in which human beings communicate with one another. The art of discovering all the available means of persuasion in a given situation (aristotle) - references both humanities and science (art is humanities, persuasion, science) both art and science to the study of rhetoric. Intentional- means of persuasion, done with purpose and is goal orientated, done with action, planned out in advanced and designed by someone that has an outcome in mind. Higher form of communication, premium form, you don"t always need it and it"s harder to produce. All rhetoric is communication because it"s a message but not all communication is rhetoric- not all communication is intentional and not all communication is strategic. Criticism- the systematic process of illuminating and evaluating products of human activity--the process of communicating is the process of judging things (what is good and what is bad about them--can point out what"s good and bad.
