Perineal body: subject to trauma during childbirth, assess. Fundus of uterus: top of uterus, palpating & assessing. Gp (traditional: gravity = # of pregnancies, parity = # of deliveries. Gptal (detailed: term = 37-40 weeks gestation, preterm = after 20 weeks, abortion = before 20 weeks, living children = currently. Naegele"s rule: for determining 40 weeks of full gestation, estimated date of confinement (edc, estimated date of delivery (edd) Sunday, january 26, 2020: estimated date of birth (edb, lmp - 3 months + 7 days = edb (next year) Preterm = < 37 weeks: late preterm = 34-36 6/7 weeks. Way of estimating appropriate growth & development during pregnancy. 20 weeks, height will peak at the umbilicus. Fundal height drops as baby descends down into pelvis: cervix will dilate usually 1 cm per day after this. Sequence of palpation of abdomen to determine fetal position, presentation & lie. Looking for fetal head, back, & buttocks.
