Salsa and Bachata Turns
Turns for Salsa:
Switch Move
1. Lead left foot forward, Follow right foot backward
2. Lead left foot back, Follow moves toward and past Lead
3. Once Follow is to the opposite side of Lead, begins again with basic footwork
Follow Turn
1. Lead left foot forward, Follow right foot backward, while Lead’s left hand moves inward
toward center of both people
2. Lead and Follow’s feet go back to center, as Lead’s left hand moves out toward center
and then up to shoulder level, flattening out against Follow’s flat hand
3. Lead pushes left flat hand against Follow’s right flat hand into an outside turn in which
Follow turns to their right, in a three step turn
4. Once the Follow returns to center, begins against with Lead left foot forward and Follow
right foot backward
Turns for Bachata:
Both Turn - Lead’s Right
1. Partners face each other in any hand position option
2. Lead’s left foot goes to side, and right foot moves to left, Follow’s right foot goes to side,
and left foot moves to right
3. Lead’s left foot goes to side, and right foot moves to left, Follow’s right foot goes to side,
and left foot moves to right
4. Couple turns to the Lead’s right in a four step turn until each partner is facing the
opposite direction then they originally were
5. Continue on with Lead’s left foot going to side and Follow’s right foot going to side
Both Turn - Lead’s Left
6. Partners face each other in any hand position option
