HIST 380 Lecture Notes - Lecture 11: Titu Cusi, Manco Inca Yupanqui, Ibero-America
Document Summary
Manco inca decided to rise up and get rid of all the spaniards, since he realizes he has been treated badly and they are ungrateful. For a moment, they were going to succeed, as they went and burned houses around the city. They reported many spaniards praying for their lives and for god to spare them. There were some indigenous people supporting the spaniards. There were even some records of god sending people down to protect the churches and people. Manco is unable to defeat the spaniards and blames it on his commanders for not being so fierce. More god references appeared, making it difficult for natives to win. Manco said to not trust anyone but to pretend to be king. He says he is going to go away and create an army, and come back to take over the spaniards. Manco was never able to mount another successful offense against the spanish.
