Definition: the production (how we send messages) and processing (do you understand what the person is communicating to you, do you comprehend what they are saying) of verbal and nonverbal messages between two or a few persons. Interpersonal communication should be between two people. Feedback: receivers sending something back to sender to let them know if they are paying attention, or if they don"t understand, etc, we are both senders and receivers at the exact same time. Noise: anything that prevents message from being understood by the receiver, types of noise. Physical (any noise part of the environment, much less under our control) Psychological (noise that comes from distractions in our minds, much more under our control) Transactional model: source message/feedback receiver. Context (communicating with professor is different than communicating with: receiver message/feedback source. Environment (communicating at a classroom would be different than communicating at a party) Intentionality: has to be a reason/purpose/intent for why you are communicating, controversial.
