Current theoretical frameworks for the study of child development across cultures. History & cultural environment of a given society influence. Are manifested in the projective systems of the society. Psychological drives, needs, & motives, result from the ways children are socialized. The salience of specific psychological needs & motives depends on experiences early in life, primarily in infancy. Through these early experiences, individuals internalize their cultural norms. Six cultures study (early 1950s - 1970s) For the first time, detailed, systematic, & comparable info of the developmental context & children"s daily lives become available. The term rajput covers various patrilinear clans historically associated with warriorhood; several clans claim rajput status. Analyzed in relation to 12 basic categories. Reliance on the insight of culture members. Interdisciplinary approach: their conceptualization of child development draws from anthropology, psychoanalysis, learning theory, & human development. Commitment to the scientific method of testing hypotheses & generating laws through observations. Environmental, historical, societal, & early - experience determinism.
