It was thought that increasing genetics studies, would be able to influence the practice of medicine. Particularly influence pharmaceuticals (drugs that you take: there was this idea if we understand our medicine, we can personally tailor our medicine, but that"s not what happened. It wasn"t effective enough compared to what was already on the market: but they suggested that it would be very good for africans, they only tested africans, kind of says. Personalized medicine: last week we talked about the human genome project, when the results were related, there was a big announcement that there was no such thing as human race. Individual responses to warfarin are particularly variable and so you need to get the prescription right if i have a blood clot, i need to get as much blood thinner i need to reduce the clot. If you give me too little of the medicine, then i will still have the blood clot and die.
