Story of a time of drought-->caused famine in delphi. King gave barley and legumes to notable citizens but not enough for everybody. Orphan girl charilla approached him and he struck her with his sandal. The girl was poverty stricken but her honor was struck. As famine increased, disease increased, and delphi prophetess said that they should perform a sacrificial rite to purify themselves. And king had to give a portion of barley meal to everyone, aliens and citizens. A doll-like image of charilla is brought as part of the rite.
