Basic ideas is that we have an obligation to do what is right, our duty to adhere to moral rules, rules that are suffieciently compelling. Utilitarianism varies because of consequences (greatest number) lying might great utility. Deontology says that this is non-sense (there is absolute rules) challenge is to impose on ourselves. In reasoning through an ethical dilemma, we focus on the morality of the act itself, not necessarily the outcome. Only thing that has moral work notion of duty. Moral psychologists (we are inclined to do what is in our self interest) we are not morally inclines.
