Nixon"s aide admitted that the war on drugs was a political and legal tool to break up minority communities. Comes after civil rights movement and done to keep racial hierarchy. You are finding lower income people of all races that have to move out to the suburbs because of gentrification. People stress the differences in infrastructure between suburbs and cities. The man had been walking 21 miles a day to get to his job. No bus lines extend all the way out to where the suburbs. Such jobs in extremely short supply, that"s why he hadn"t quit. No work-communal ties to rely on because of lack of social capital. Gentrification: the act of upper and middle class people moving into the inner cities and displacing the working class people that have only occupied that land for generation due to racist and segregational policies in the first place. People are waiting longer to have kids now.
