Scaffolding - temporary support to help children with. Its intentional- but we do, do it naturally. Example- what i had to for lunch on sunday. Parents are helping them along the way of the story. The mother is building and helping a long the way and the child responds with more elaborate respond- open ended questions ended questions. Better early autobiographical memory- child with high scaffolding parents. Jack et al: interviewed adolescents about their earliest memories. Compared age of memory between those with high or low scaffolding mothers in childhood. Higher scaffolding you have an earlier first memory. Benefits of scaffolding depends on how closely it aligns with what children can already do.
