Abnormality should be thought of on a continuum. A mild or even strong preference for a fetish object (silk underwear, leather boots) are well within the normal range: the issue comes in when the object becomes a necessity for arousal. Indicates that you"re having sexual fantasies, urges, or behaviors that involve using non-living objects to produce or enhance sexual arousal (with or without a partner) Lasting over a period of 6 months and involves significant distress (upset) than it would become a paraphilia. Something closely associated with the body (silk underwear, leather) Cause = unknown: they may come from classical conditioning maybe the 1st time you had sex your partner was wearing silk underwear, the association was made between the behavior and the object. Sexual sadist: derives sexual excitement from inflicting pain, suffering, or humiliation on another person. Sexual masochist: someone who derive sexual excitement from receiving pain.
