From the episodes on in treatment, it can be concluded that the therapeutic approach used by paul on sophie is the behavioral approach. This is an approach that brings on the notion of the fact that behaviors are acquired through conditioning. The environment that we are exposed to in our social lives does have a direct impact on our later lives. Paul takes his time to understand the reason behind the behavior being displayed by his client by simply taking time to allow her to open up. There are different approaches to getting a breakthrough into understanding the behavioral disorder as displayed by the client. Directiveness is one of the concepts that paul has been able to adequately bring into practice throughout the whole process. His main aim is to see sophie open up to whatever has been troubling her and from that point, he can be able to make her feel comfortable when talking to him.
