ZOO 3733C Lecture Notes - Lecture 28: Inguinal Triangle, Deep Inguinal Ring, Abdominal Wall
Document Summary
Abdominal cavity"s borders: thoracic diaphragm and pelvic diaphragm superiorly and inferiorly. Arcuate line: the line that divides the upper 3/4 of abdomen wall from lower 1/4, by the differences in the aponeurotic layers. Abdominal muscles: innervated by 6 lower intercostal muscles and l1 nerve. Superficial inguinal ring: foramen in the aponeurosis of the external oblique muscle through which the spermatic cord in men, or, round ligament in women, and inguinal hernias emerge from the inguinal canal. Camper"s fascia: adipose tissue superficial to abdominal muscles. Cryptorchidism: when the testes fail to descend through the deep inguinal ring after 7 months in gestation. The inguinal triangle contains the medial inguinal fossa, through which direct/indirect inguinal hernias protrude through the abdominal wall. Doesn"t pass through inguinal canal, touches superficial inguinal ring directly. Passes through inguinal canal inside the spermatic cord, indirectly touching superficial inguinal ring.
