Specific set of symptoms which occur frequently together. Something is wrong but not enough consistency between individuals - no recognizable causal foundation. What is the pathology if you will. Not all disorders are diseases ; diseases start of as disorders. Study of cellular dysfunctions which cause disease. Symptoms have causes in some medical condition. Abnormal behavior impairing, but has no known or obvious physical cause. Inference of mental illness from analyses of behavior. Age of onset, persistence of symptoms, problems with appetite, sleep or movement, social interactions, family history, and present stressors. 7 areas of the mental status examination. Thinking-any unusual ideas, are answers given at appropriate speeds. There are no voices but they can hear them. Sometimes they can see things that aren"t there. Delusions are false beliefs based on a false information. Illusion is somethings there but you misinterpret it. For ex is that strap a snake. Memory-can describe recent events and accomplish tasks requiring memory and concentration.
