Neural networks are software systems that train themselves to understand human world. Receive info from other units, integrate inputs, has its preferred threshold, pass information forward in network if signals are greater than threshold. Step 2: create many units and layers; connect them. Brain has billions of neurons, quadrillions of synapses: more powerful brains have more neurons/connections.
