Document Summary

Long list, covers a lot of areas. Fairly easy to use, can be deployed quickly. Intracategory variability: multiple experiences can fit under one category but the impact may vary: depending on the context, the same category can be positive or negative. Preassigned point values - exact same event can occur but it can have a different impact (mean value) depending on the person. Unreliable recall: the events you recall may be different if you repeat the survey at a later time point: only 70% accurate between trials, will select about the same # of items. Recall bias: if you are in a particular mood state, you might recall your life differently. Lists are not comprehensive: only cover about half of the items that people list in an interview. A month after veterans return, complete a checklist (19 items) of what happened to you repeat checklist 2 years later.
