Human prehistory part ii: retrograde- it seems like mercury and venus are going backwards, but earth is passing them faster. Parallax- the effect of the position or direction an object appears to differ when seen from different positions. Heliocentrism- sun is the center of the solar system. Galileo comes up with a totally new data set and shows heliocentrism works: he invented the telescope, he gets excommunicated and is put in prison. Hypothesis- a testable explanation for a set of data. Theory- in science, a well substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world that can incorporate facts, laws, inferences, and tested hypothesis. Multiple hypotheses are included in each theory. Germ theory- explains how you get sick: what makes you sick- bacterium, virus, prion, archaea, how does it make you sick, how can you get better?- treatment, cure. Zika virus= transmitted by mosquitoes, can also be sexually transmitted: symptoms: rash, fever, yucky feeling, anyone can get it.
