Death impacts on family members in unique and individual ways. We prepare for death in old age, but can die at any time. Shared acknowledgement of the reality of the death. All need to grieve and experience the death. Empathy critical to communicate to others that they matter, stress inhibits empathy. Death causes everyone to be stressed, no capacity for empathy, must decenter and compartmentalize, support others grieving around you. Required in midst of amplification of negative emotion, complicated. Emotionally overwhelming, results in families losing capacity to support development of family members, eventually need to grieve b a b c a b a b a a a. 6 and move on (in pursuit of happiness, fulfilling life) Overload of emotion gets in way of right to move on.
