Food additive admendment -determine if the food company is reliable. Delaney clause - no additives can be used if it"s shown cancer in animal -misleading. Calsi- calcium silicate : add a salt because it can bind with water. The first company that uses it is morton. For people with hbp (hypertension)- kcl has to be low since it"s extremely bitter. When food products are dry, it doesn"t have to be anti-microbial. Sorbic acid : usually it"s shown on food label as sorbate. Benzoate : benzoic acid- found in soda, fruit juices. Erythorbate : erythoric acid (synthetic form of vitamin c) - more common in food since it"s made in a lab. Edta : bind to metal prevent oxidation - found in salad dressing and mayonnaise. Bha-bht : synthetic antioxidants - cereal boxes (bha and bht packaging) Acesulfame: artificial sweeteners with no calories- just to provide sweetness with no calories.
