Document Summary

" static testing: to complete the static portion of this experiment, you must hang mass from a hanging spring and measure the displacement caused by varying added mass. You must repeat this step for 5 different masses to be able to accurately calculate the spring constant. You must repeat these steps for the second spring as well. Dynamic testing: to complete the dynamics portion of this experiment, you must use the same setup used in static testing. The difference is that you only need to test one spring at 75 g total mass. We will measure the period of the movement of the spring by pulling and releasing the hanging mass. To measure the period we used a stopwatch and a phone recording a video in slow motion. Upon being released, we recorded the time and when the mass completed an oscillation the difference in time from the start was recorded.
